The Woodland Park is located in the center of old town in Longkou City, with an area of about 26 ha. The site used to be an empty space, and has been planted in 2007 to provide the basic needs for walking and relax. Being lack of facilities and poor used, the city government decided to improve it.

Since 2012, Atelier DYJG began to redesign the woodland park. The design sought to enhance the park to be a multi-functional urban park for leisure, recreation, fitness, exercises and cultural exhibition. Meanwhile, the park can also serve as the green heart of the old town in Longkou and an ecological green full of art atmosphere.

In the southern area of the park, one lake is dig and earth is piled up as a mound along southeast - northwest direction. The mound occupy the surface area as little as possible, so the original plants get minimal interference. This mound also brings a relatively huge surface changes to enrich the landscape level. Plants in other region are retained as much as possible and are thinned to create a good environment for plant growth. Plants community and seasonal landscape are also improved.

The main entrance, with pergola on the west and lamp posts and signs on the east, is opposite to the City Cultural Square across the road. Visitors can overlook the lake view at the entrance. There are two entrances on east and west sides. The three entrances serves for to staying, resting and gathering.

The rainwater runoff in the park is collected into the lake. Waterside platform provides a place to watch the scene. In winter, the lake becomes an outdoor skating rink of the city.

The park has four different experience paths, they are Fitness Pathway, the Wandering Pathway, the Garden Pathway and the History Pathway. These paths form the skeleton of the park circulation.

The Fitness Pathway is a 1400m-long tree-lined jogging track. The Wandering Pathway is across the lake and the path, meandering through the woodlands and connecting teahouse, amphitheater and the west entrance. The Wandering Pathway provides a three-dimensional touring experience and special viewpoint, and red lamp posts strengthen the sense of unity and continuity of the Pathway. The Garden Pathway links 6 small plants gardens, each garden is about 1000m2, and they are named as Cloves and Osmanthus Garden, Vanilla Garden, Magnolia and Viburnum Garden, Color-leafed Garden, Peony Garden, and Rose Garden. These small gardens are built by stone walls, offering a quiet space for rest, study and meditation. The History Pathway presents historical figures and events in Longkou by stone inscription, sculpture and pavement, and it is a way to learn and experience the culture of the city.

The Woodland Park has a variety of functions and attracts lots of citizens. The Woodland Park provides many activities, including running, basketball, beach volleyball, table tennis, rock climbing, fitness, amphitheater, playgrounds and so on. It also has outdoor theater, outdoor cafes, children's playground, dynamic spaces and bicycle parking field. After completion, the Woodland Park has become the most important public green in Longkou City, attracting a large number of people to come here exercise, relaxation and rest.
